Adding branding guidelines into a living style guide
It's common in projects to have existing branding guidelines that are used for designing graphics, which can be valuable as well when building a user interface. How could these two be merged to avoid repetition and make them more accessible to the development team?
This is something that we observe in a lot of projects, branding guidelines live in one place, and brand documentation for the app lives somewhere else. A good way to manage both is to add the branding guidelines as "static" documentation in the living style guide. Most of the style guide generators offer a way of creating stand alone pages like this. At Bitovi, we use DocumentCSS, and use the tag `@page` on markdown files to create this content. In the lesson Creating a Page we show in detail how this works.
Now it's important to note that to avoid repetition of publishing branding guidelines in multiple places requires of coordination and agreement with the team on where this information will live. An advantage of making of the living style guide the source of truth is that you can guarantee that the app uses the latest and greatest version, which I think is a very compelling argument.
